Why I made a PDD

I made the Overtime project to practice pitching new game ideas. It was also an idea for a game that I really wanted to make and prototype but since it would take up a lot of my spare time.

 

I created this pitch to get all my creative energy out and bring the game to life without taking months out of my time for a dodgy prototype.

What is Overtime?

Overtime is a co-operative shooter set in the office. Players have to complete office themed tasks such as photocopying files while fighting off robots. It mixes wave survival combat with coordinated team work. Similar to games like Payday 2.

Reflection on the project - IGN gave this game an 8/10

This project took a week to create and I was able to bring Overtime to life as a fictional game pitch which made me very happy. Knowing I spent a week creating a nice pitch rather than prototyping the game for months has been very liberating.

I am pleased with how the pitch came out. I was worried that using the office theme too much would make the pitch boring and over saturated with comercial jokes. But I think I hit a good variety of themes and showed how the project could be diverse. â€‹
