Pagan
What is Pagan?
Pagan is a multiplayer arena map I designed and created in Halo 5's level editor to get more confidence in designing levels and practical spaces. It is designed for 4v4 deathmatches and an objective mode known as 'Oddball'

Level overview
Pagan uses an abstract tunnel as its control point and symmetrical alleys to navigate the map. With 2 floors that lets the player slip away by dropping down levels there's lots of cat and mouse in this jungle gym.

Here is some gameplay footage of Pagan with matchmade players;
Level breakdown
The control point of the map was an abstract tunnel that used rounded walls and 2 floors to let movement be free. Player would even trick me by using walls to run around. This room has so many options for moving it can turn any bottle into a game of cat and mouse.

This area was the control point because it housed one of the best weapons and had access to the best access points on the map. It was also the middle of the map which forced players towards you. Holding this area was essential and easy to escape.

The alley ways were the original thesis of the level design. Players can jump over an abyss or stay back and fight over a gap. The 2 floors lets players drop down and switch between close and long combat.

One of my favourite design choices was the staircase for the alleys, the player loops around a pillar and then has to climb up. It turns a long climb up into a mix of geometry for a good fight.

Pagan review
Friends tell me that Pagan reminds them of Halo Reach which is always a lovely complement. The map uses all the spartan move abilities such as ground pounds and clambering in almost every corner of the map. Making the map a constant jungle gymnasium if you can combine moves.
